Representatives of BAIT, BASCOM and other non-governmental organizations from the ICT industry presented unified opinion of ICT business in respect of the draft of Law for pre-school and school education in Bulgaria. The final version of the opinion was discussed and revised by the Working Group on ICT for Education formed by these organizations. They will undertake the introduction of the opinion to the Commission of Education at the National Assembly, President of National Assembly and the Minister of Education and Science.

Unified Working Group on Education of ICT branch associations - ASTEL, BAIT, BASCOM, BWA and ICT Cluster – is preparing qualitative and quantitative requirements for education - at school and university level, which will be submitted to the government and educational institutions in September. Our business interests coincide with the public interests to improve the quality of education because we are faced with acute shortage of adequately trained young people who can participate effectively in economic and social life in the 21st century, says the document.

According to the ICT business in the draft of Law on pre-school and school education, along with well-stated objectives and principles, there are serious gaps and uncertainties. The opinion included a significant number of comments on controversial or unacceptable texts contained in the draft. According to the ICT business it is not acceptable the draft to be proposed for adoption by Parliament as it is at the moment. The education system should be fully reformed to meet societal demands for improvement of the quality of education for all Bulgarian children.
