IDC: PC Market Declines for the Second Consecutive Year

With 6.4% has fallen the supply of PCs in the fourth quarter of 2012th compared the same period of 2011. This result is worse than the projected decline of 4.4%, according to the report by analyst IDC.

According to IDC, although the last quarter of last year was marked by the release of Windows 8, the new operating system has not influenced quickly the stagnated PC market, which lags behind compared to competitive devices. As a result the PC market for the second consecutive year decreased during the holiday season (after a 0.2% drop in 4Q11 and 2.7% growth in 4Q10) - something that is happening for the first time in 5 years.

"With the maturation of Windows 8, and the help of other variables, such as the decline in prices of ultra books, there is hope that the market will go up in terms of messages and demand," said Jay Chou, senior research analyst in IDC's Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker.
